Diva Challenge #117 - Schway

Rick and Maria at Zentangle released a new official tangle this week called Schway. So the challenge from Alura which you can see here is to try out this new tangle.

At first I was not sure that I liked it, but as I tried it more and freed myself up from being so rigid it grew on me. Lots of opportunities for tangelations with this one.

Diva Challenge #115 - Earth Day

The challenge this week is to be inspired by Earth day or Amanda Day as Laura's son Chewie call's it. You can find the challenge here.

I found this a bit difficult to start, I was not quite sure what to do, then I thought about making a kind of landscape using Tangles. I made some nice sedimentary rock layers and some pokeroot poketrees. It was fun to do something different.

Diva Challenge #114 (and #113)

The challenge this week from Laura at I am the Diva  was to produce a Zentangle inspired by Stars.

For the last 2 weeks I have been really busy and only managed to do one tangle for each challenge, the golf season has started now that the weather has finally stopped raining and I have been spending  quite a bit of time on the golf course.

Here is this weeks attempt, I started with 5 stars arranged in a star shape and filled these in with Auraknot and then just filled in the blank spaces and added an aura.

I was too late to post last weeks attempt, the challenge was to use squares, here it is..

Diva Challenge #112

The challenge this week from Laura which you can see here was a UMT (use my tangle) challenge and the tangle this week was  "Tuxedo"  created by LeeAnn, a.k.a Ledenzer, Follow this LINK to find the instructions for this tangle.

It has been a busy week with the kids off school so it has taken me a bit longer than normal to do this challenge and post the results.

For my first shot I tried using Tuxedo as a border and a stripe then I filled in the background. The overall look I feel is too messy for me.

I then tried again, this time keeping it a bit more simple.

Diva Challenge #111 - Mooka Madness

The challenge this week from Laura at I am the Diva is to monotangle Mooka.

When I first tried Mooka last year I could not get it and did not enjoy drawing it, however I kept on seeing so many great examples of it being used the I persevered. I have now grown to love it and use it often. However not often as a mono-tangle.

I started with a flower type ZIA, which I like but it is quite plain, I feel it needs some other Tangles.

I tried again this time using a tile, I drew the pattern and it looked bare, I really wanted to fill the gaps in using Tipple, but because this is a mono-tangle I couldn't, so I went for black. I am not that keen on the finished result, the black makes it hard to see the shading on the Mooka.

I know there are no mistakes in Zentangle (!) however I drew this one again without the black. And I think I might just go back and add the Tipple into it (when no one is looking)

Diva Challenge #110

The challenge from Laura this week is to find something way out of your comfort box. You can see the challenge here.

I am quite a neat and ordered person and my pieces are usually quite structured. I normally do not use colour either.

So I decided that colour should be my challenge, I started with white piece of paper and a graduated watercolour wash, I then stamped over it with a few Kaisercraft background stamps. Here is the finished background paper that I created.

I then tried to tangle patters that would fit in, I used the bubble wrap background stamp to tangle Bubbles and Cruffle, I love Verdigogh, it's such a simple yet effective tangle. I also used Fans, Angel Fish, Catkin, Mooka (another favourite) and Flux.

I was definitely well out of my box as this is much more unstructured and organic than my usual tiles. It was fun doing something different.

Diva Challenge #109

The challenge this week from Laura at I am the Diva was to use 3D banding and tangle within it.

It has taken me a while to get round to the challenge this week, life just got in the way...too much to do and I have also been doing more Art-journaling as well.

However here is my attempt, I found it quite tricky to work out which tangles would fit in well to give the 3D effect, I think it turned out OK.

I also want to do my proud Mother bit and post this picture which my daughter (age 15) drew for me for Mothers Day. It's A5 sixe and the scan does not really do it justice, I just love it.
